HAJJ PRACTICALITIES
APPLICATION OF HENNA AND KOHL (SURMA) IN THE STATE OF IHRAAM

CONTRAVENTION
(JINAAYAAT)
For men to apply Henna thinly to the whole head, beard, hands or one fourth of the head or beard, and it remains there for one day and one night or more.
For men to apply Henna thickly as in (a), and it remains there for one day and one night or more.
For men to apply Henna thickly as in (b), and it remains there for less than one day and one night.
For women to apply Henna thickly, as in (a), and it remains there for one day and one night or more.
For women to apply Henna thickly, as in (a), and it remains there for less than one day and one night.
For women to apply Henna to the whole palm.
To apply a dye to the head to relieve headache.
To apply fragrant Kohl more than twice.
To apply fragrant Kohl once or twice.
Note
- It is permissible to apply odourless Kohl.
- By one day and one night is meant the duration of day and night whether one whole
day or one whole night passes or not e.g. if kept applied for half the day upto half
the night, or if kept applied for half the night upto half the day, then too Damm
is Waajeeb.
